The "Leitmotiv" of the EESD 2008 is "Bridging the Gap". The general assumption on which the conference is based is that sustainable development has by now reached a status as the governing principle of the 21st century development pathway. It is now the time to lay the groundwork for actual implementation and integration of this principle into the day to day practice of the education of engineers. This requires bridging the gap between different stakeholders, different activities in education and between current education and future challenges for engineers.
In particular EESD 2008 will address the following "gaps" within its scientific program and the associated activities:
- Education and engineering challenges of the 21th century
- Students, universities and industry
- University and society
- University and regions
- Research community and sustainable developmen |
